Seeking Feedback on Rules and Player Base Growth

Hey Everyone,

I have been on the Strictly Vanilla server for some time now. There is just one thing that has been nagging me, and I think it could be discussed. Recently, we have finally started to get more players online after months where it felt like the server was pretty empty, which is great! There are, however, a few things that I believe hold us from really growing and maintaining a bigger player base.

One thing that's been on my mind lately is whether certain rules we have in place are constricting us, in a sense, from what we can do in building and creation. I completely get the intention behind staying vanilla, but I do feel that some of the restrictions, specifically with regards to automated tools necessary for resource gathering, make it very difficult for those players who enjoy large projects. For instance, using some mechanics in order to help collect materials-say, ways to replicate TNT-is better thought of not as an exploit but rather as a tool that makes base building viable and enjoyable.

Perhaps above all, what has kept many of us coming back for more is the opportunity to collaborate and work on massive creations with other players. That is alright, but the gathering process for those big builds is really time-consuming and rather grind-heavy with the current limitations. If we were just able to have that little bit more freedom in the way we can gather resources, I feel this might bring the creativity and excitement into the server, wanting players to stay active and engaged.

I'd love to hear what the rest of you think. You think adjusting some of these rules could help foster a more creative and vibrant community? We all want to see how far we can go together in our building projects, and allowing certain tools in the process, I think, can make it more enjoyable without straying too much from the vanilla feel we all enjoy.

I completely agree, i assume most of these restrictions are in place cause of lag and big griefs, but for build purposes we need them

Also, the active community is woundering why xChaplin was banned, as there was no reason given and he didnt seem to do anything wrong (i visited his base, he was progressing normally, didnt see anything sus at all)
Banning active and friendly people without giving any reason makes everyone feel like the admins are just doing it willynilly and we can lose our progress at any time, which hurts our efforts to make the server active again pretty hard

can some admin make any statements? we never see you guys and its not fair to not have a reason
